Judges' Citation Jennifer Senior’s story about the family Bobby McIlvaine left behind when he died on 9/11 is a superlative, affecting, complex meditation on grief. “Twenty Years Gone,” the judges decided, is a perfect encapsulation of what magazine writing, at its finest, can do.
